1. Hayden Hurst -round (25 overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: C- He disappointed me a lot, he was our top pick and was outplayed by our 3rd round pick. He did had the injury which provoke that he was behind the curve and that's why my grade is not lower. He had moments where he exploded after a catch or fought for extra yard, so you can see why he was a high draft pick. I think if he's healthy next year he will have an impact. Redraft: Calvin Ridley - Gives us one more WR which we need |
Joe Noobo
Grade: D- I’ve always believed that if you’re drafting someone in the first round, then they better be ready to contribute to your team immediately. Hurst unfortunately was injured early on in the season and never got too involved with the offense even when he became healthy. I’m not calling Hurst a bust, but I’m definitely holding out hope to see more from him in the coming years. Not to mention that Calvin Ridley was still on the board and I feel like that would’ve been the better pick. |
Ivan Evans
Grade: C Initially I thought this was an A pick, but because of his injury and the emergence of Mark Andrews, we really should have went WR with this pick. Hurst was injured early in the season which opened the door for Andrews. Once healthy his production grew as the season progressed. He finished the season with 13 catches and was the least effective blocker of the four TE’s. |
2. Lamar Jackson-1st Round (32 overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: B+ Jackson led the Ravens in to a 6-1 record, to put that in perspective Mayfield led the Browns to a 7-7 record. Jackson was what the Ravens need it, provided a spark and pushed them to the playoffs for the first time in 4 years. He's running ability are super and that allowed the Ravens to control the tempo of the game. Jackson will have to improve his passing game and when he does he can be near unstable. We haven't seen a QB being this dynamic since Vick. Redraft: None |
Joe Noobo
Grade: A Regardless of how you feel about him, Jackson completely exceeded expectations and was totally worth the pick. Not only was he not expected to start at all this season, but he had to learn a new playbook and led his team to a 6-2 record, a playoff spot, and of course the division title. What more could you possibly ask from a 1st round rookie QB taken with the last pick? |
Ivan Evans
Grade: A+ I loved this pick as soon as it happened. I can still remember the interview with Deion afterwards. Lamar started the year as a change up to Joe doing wildcat type plays. Slowly getting more and more reps. He became the starter in week 11 and led us to a 6-1 record and NFC north title. While he needs to improve drastically in the pass game the coordinators altered the offense and Baltimore became a rushing machine. He fumbled too much, but also did not throw an interception in December. |
3. Orlando Brown Jr-3rd Round (83 Overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: A- One of the steals of the draft, Zeus Jr. fell to the Ravens for a poor 40 time and a bad bench pressing. This made a really good tackle fall from what early mock drafts had him as a 1st rounder to the 3rd to the Ravens. When Brown step in for Hurst, he played extremely well he hold his own against good pass rusher like Bosa, Garrett, Houston and TJ Watt. He did had some troubles when being bull rush and I expected that to be address with the strength and conditions coach, but overall he was a great pick up and looks to be the Ravens future RT. Re Draft: None |
Joe Noobo
Grade: A- Brown was a 1st round talent who dropped due to his combine. He proved this year that he should’ve been taken in the 1st round despite a poor combine performance. Despite giving up his only sack at a very costly point in the playoffs, his performance all year was phenomenal. |
Ivan Evans
Grade: B+ Son of a former Raven, with a massive frame. He cracked the starting lineup in week 13 and was a big part of the run game. He has good feet and did a good job of working to the second level. He punished defenders on downblocks, but needs to improve his pass protection. |
4. Mark Andrews- 3rd Round (86 overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: A+ Mark Andrews was a great story and a key player in the Ravens 2018 season. I can argue he was not only the best TE in the team but also the best receiver. He was good with Flacco or Jackson. He surprise me with a great ability to make he's self available to the QB and to fight for every yard. He was in my book top 5 TE in the league. This was a steal of a pick for the Ravens. Re Drafting: None |
Joe Noobo
Grade: A+ Andrews had an amazing season and was the most reliable receiving option on our offense all year. Here’s hoping Hayden Hurst can develop so we have two real threats over the middle. |
Ivan Evans
Grade: A This pick is probably the steal of the draft. Andrews from Oklahoma like Brown was able to produce immediately. He finished with 34 catches and 3 TD’s. he was the recipient of Lamar’s best throw vs the Chargers. A solid blocker on top of an above average pass catcher. |
5. Anthony Averett-4th Round (118 Overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: C Averett looked solid in the limited opportunities he was on the field. In pre-season he flashed for sure and you can see why the Ravens where exited to bring him. He plays outside CB which with he's size in my opinion he will be more suited for the slot. Size doesn't bother Averrett he's aggressive in the line and a sure tackler. He was room to grow, but with some CB leaving the team he will get opportunities. Re Draft: None |
Joe Noobo
Grade: C+ We haven’t seen much from Averett yet, but for the limited playing time he’s gotten, I think he’s shown plenty of potential. |
Ivan Evans
Grade: Incomplete He was stuck behind a loaded defensive backfield. His worth will show up next season depending on who stays and leaves. |
6. Kenny Young- 4th Round (122 Overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: B- Kenny Young if you see my earlier videos of the season, you will see how much I loved Young arguably my favorite rookie. But the second half of the season he disappear, and felt under an excellent performance from Penut. No knock on Young is a long season, the future looks bright for our ILB core but we definitely need more consistency out of him. Re Draft: None |
Joe Noobo
Grade B+ I love what we saw from Young this season. He plays hard every opportunity he gets and it feels like he was meant to be a Raven. |
Ivan Evans
Grade: B Kenny did an outstanding job of playing opposite of Mosley early in the year until Peanut took over as the other ILB. Kenny plays hard he runs to the ball, fills run lanes, had 2.5 sacks and is a great special team guy. |
7. Jaleel Scott-4th Round (132 Overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: F As a 4th rounder he was disappointing since the get go. He has all the tools to be a redzone target, but from OTA, preseason and rookie mini camp he was underwhelming. He sustain an injury and the Ravens did their annual IR for reserving future players. |
Joe Noobo
Grade: Incomplete We never got to see Scott get meaningful playing time. |
Ivan Evans
Grade: C The jury is still out on Scott. He is a tall rangy kid that should be a great red zone/ possession guy. Coming from New Mexico St he didn’t see top competition consistently. He should get plenty of opportunity to make the 53 next year as I don’t see all the wide receivers returning. He was on the practice squad the entire year. |
8. Jordan Lasley- 5th round (162 overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: F Lasley reminds me of Perriman. He's fast, explosive and will entice you with some amazing plays but has the drops. He was a healthy scratch in all of the games, this is with the problem with pass catching play makers we have. The hope is he can correct it and if he does he could potentially be a big time play maker. Re Draft: for both WR -Tre Flowers or Valdez Scantling |
Joe Noobo
Grade: Incomplete Same as Scott, Lasley never got meaningful playing time. He was a healthy scratch the entire season. So far, it looks like Marquez Valdez-Scantling would’ve probably been the better pick than either of these two. |
Ivan Evans
Grade: Incomplete Lasley was one of the picks I was excited that we got. A speed guy that could blow the top off coverage and open up our run game. He had a case of the drops in preseason and was stashed on the practice squad behind more established wide receivers. |
9. DeShon Elliott-6th round (190 Overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: Incomplete This is a guy that I loved after the draft, that ball found him in college, he loved being physical and I had faith that he could learn the Safety position from Weddle. He should recover with no problem from the forearm and come back strong. We will see if he can be the future safety of this team. |
Joe Noobo
Grade: Incomplete Unfortunately we never got to see Elliott play as he was put on IR before the season began. Here’s hoping he can come back stronger and be our safety of the future |
Ivan Evans
Grade: C He has a chance to get into the rotation next year, but only played in the preseason. |
10. Greg Senat- 6th Round (212 Overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: Incomplete Senat was drafted as a project, like Elumenur the previous draft. He flashed in the preseason and he will be probably competing for a job with Elumenur for the backup Tackle |
Joe Noobo
Grade: Incomplete Just like the players above him, Senat was placed on IR and never got significant playing time. |
Ivan Evans
Grade: D Small college guy that was overwhelmed by the competition. He still could find himself in the rotation depending on his growth in strength, technique, and knowledge of the game. Draft |
11. Bradley Bozeman- 6th Round (215 Overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: C Bozeman was for me one of the biggest surprise. He played fairly well as a LG, and in the pre season in the Center position. He needs to build some more upper body strength since he struggle with some bull rush. I expect him to be the Center of the future. |
Joe Noobo
Grade: C+ I really like the value of this pick, even though I would’ve liked to see us take either Javon Wims or Marcell Ateman here, Bozeman did well in the times he was asked to step in. I think he has the potential to be our starting center eventually |
Ivan Evans
Grade: B- Being a 6 th round pick that played in 14 is always a plus, he just happened to play out of position and at our weakest OL spot. Getting 14 games from a pick this late in the draft is almost unheard of. |
12.Zach Sieler-7th Round (238 Overall)
SZG Sports
Grade: D Sieler didn't play much this year, he's your typical D-lineman that gets stash for a year, he definitely had some flashes in the pre season. I expect to see progression next year. But this year was just a red shirt year. Re Draft: Lindsey |
Joe Noobo
Grade: C- I think if you contribute at all as a 7th rounder, then you’re looking good. Sieler didn’t play much, but he wasn’t a liability when he was on the field, and that’s a good thing. Also we could’ve taken Philip Lindsay but the same could’ve been said for every team in the draft. Can’t really fault the team for not taking someone who turned out to be a stud when every other team did the same. |
Ivan Evans
Grade: D Another small school kid that lacked enough talent to make the 53 constantly. He played in 2 games this year but was not a rotational guy. Again depending on who is coming back and his development as a player will determine his worth next season. |
13. Gus Edwards- Undrafted (Bonus pick)
SZG Sports
Grade: A+ As an undrafted player your goal is to make the team. He sort of did make it from the practice squad. He worked hard and made the team due to injuries of Dixon and Thompson. He started getting more carries and never looked back. He is the perfect complement for LJ, he doesn't dance in the back field he sees the hole and attacks it. Great find in the undrafted market. |
Joe Noobo
Grade A+ It seems like the Ravens always find a diamond in the rough when it comes to undrafted rookies. This year was no exception with Gus Edwards. I’m sure every running back in this class will be compared to Philip Lindsay, but I believe Edwards was the perfect running back for what we needed for this offense. |
Ivan Evans
Grade: A+ By far the best pick up of the year. To get 718 yards from UDFA is a genius move by Ozzie draft regrade |
